I knew Joan was just foolering with me but it just made me worry more about Jack.After all no one would ever describe him as restrained.
The injured were all put in one multi-tent.Joans' arm was treated and she was released for duty.She told me she'd drop by.

At least the medico tent was cooler than most.Jack had an awning placed over it.Very clever,even the two suns could not make it hot inside.In my case it helped alot.After two days I still felt light headed.I could not seem to get enough to eat or drink.
Gwen showed up early and told me the weed sea was still burning.She had a very big grin on her face the whole time.She left to go find Milty.Uh oh.Ha ha.They were quite the item now.
Misstress Joan came in to see me.

I'd been by sooner but there was a lot of reports to look over.I'll give you a hand to get back to your tent.You are released for light duty only.Misty says you should take it easy for awhile,stay off that bad foot as much as possible.Said Joan.
It was a bit strange that the full command Misstress was doing this.At the time I didn't care who got me out of the medico tent though.I was tired of bed pans.And being examined or treated.I think every medico in camp had seen me by now.

Walking back gingerly on my right foot I noticed all the tents had awnings now.My tent had been moved close by the medico tent.I was not done with medicos yet, drat.I got inside and found a huge pile of furs to sit on.
The sistors all donated furs for you in gratitude. Said Joan.
Really..why?I asked.
Because of what you did durring the battle of course.She said.
What??follow orders??I asked again.
Time for you to know what I know.Joan responded.She handed me a big bowl of hot chocolate.

Remember the village?Joan asked.
I nodded yes and sipped the hot chocolate.
Well it seems that the village not attacked at random.The next ruler Supreme Sistor was there.She was touring the settlements of the Queendom,as required by our laws.Of course only a very few knew this. Misstress Helga and the Supreme Guard were escourting.They no sooner had arrived then a Miss named Inga blew the seahorn.The Miss should've seen to it that the future Supreme Sistor got away first then blown the horn.

Helgas group didn't even try to find the girl who turns 26 seasons at the end of this season.The regent council thought it very odd that the report stated that there was no trace of the girl or where she could be. We were sent out just to confirm the report.The council doubted the coinedence of an attack where our future leader just happened to be.Only I knew why we went out. The villiage was attacked as you know.But where were the villiagers?Gnars don't take captives.When Jack found/rescued the kids.....

...I thought for sure the main group of Gnars had taken the entire villiage hostage to make sure they got the next Supreme Sistor to use as a kind of blackfemale.But again why?Two things happened that answered the questions.First the shear number of the Gnars and second Vickies curtsy.To feed that many Gnars would take a Ji mount of food.The carts we found held only rocks.Not very good for eating.The Gnars are starveing!They wanted to trade the Supreme Sistor for food!Someone must have helped them.

The only one that knew for sure that the Supreme Sistor would be there was Helga! So she orders a newly appointed miss to sound the horn at the first sight of a Gnar and run.That's why I made such a fuss over horns and retreating remember?When the Gnars pursued us it was because they didn't want it reported.That's also why I had to be the one to report back.It's why the council sent sissies still in the accademy out with me,they didn't know who else to trust to protect the Supreme Sistor.

I wondered at first why we found only three kids alive and no adults.The Gnars Knew it was a child they were after but not what she looked like.They took the kids they thought likely to be her.Gnars are not all that bright,they couldn't tell which child was a boy or a girl.So they kept the only 3 about the right age!Joan finished speaking as I spit out the last of my hot chocolate all over my self.
Vic..Vicky is the Supreme Sissy? I asked sputtering.
Remeber the fancy curtsy?She asked retoricly.

What about Jack!? I demanded and started to cry.My emotoins were playing havoc with me the last two days.
Jack is Jack as far as I know.He should have gone for help with a few sissies.Kelly had ordered him to do so before comming to aid us. He must have gotten the 5 attendants he had trained the most,slipped past the sissies to make sure you were alright.I'm sure he went to get help because a large group of sistors has been spotted approaching camp from the south.They are headed straight toword us.

I'm hopeing Jack is with them.Even if he's not I wouldn't worry to much,Jack can take care of himself.Said Joan.
What about the people of the villiage?I asked.
When I was at the castle for help it was reported that they arrived at Mish a farm community to the south west,unharmed. I didn't get any other details about them.Answered Joan. According to the council this is not over yet.They believe that 100 legions of Gnar arrived for battle.We took that down alot, but not 200 thousand!She said.

Swell, anyother bad news?I said asked.
Well kind of.. every war needs its heros.You know to inspire the next generation,raise morale and support of the people.One person all can look to for insperation.. ..You've been nominated!She said with a smile.
Me??! I gulped.
You are going to receive the Silver border,the Emerald stem and leaves,also two Ruby bud clusters by order of the regents council on behalf of the future Supreme Sistors request.
What..what for? I asked in disbelief.

Your group held back at least 2 legions of Gnars.They didn't retreat because it got to hot,they did it because of the beat down You and your group put on them.That gave the rest of us the time we needed to disable all but the carts we took.You and your group are the reason the Gnars couldn't throw stones.That's why Jack and the attendants could do what they did.You didn't help win one battle..but two! It's how I knew to order a sword defence!It's how we got out alive.We..I owe you my/our life(s).Said Joan

I didn't do all that by myself.I complained.
You took a sword wound to your arm trying to save Alices life! By Gwens count you killed at least 17 Gnars by sword alone.Said Joan.
I ran out of darts and only used my sword at your order.And Alice is still..dead.I started to sob uncontrollby.
Misstress Melody get hold of yourself! Alice died bravely,she gave her life that others would live,as any of us would.As you almost did.You chose Alice well.Be proud of her and You and us all. Said Joan.

She handed me a small fur and I wiped my tears.
We still need you, your courage,and skill.This war is far from over.She said.
I stopped crying and smiled weakly.
Let's go outside a moment so the Sistors can give you your honors.It's good for their morale.She said helping me outside.
HAZZA Misstress Melody..HAZZA..HAZZA! And 900+ sistors and 100+ attendants,all the Misses and Misstresses, and even Vicky and the boys curtsied at the same time. The lump in my throat was to big to swallow!

It was all I could do to hold back my tears as I curtsied back.I managed and meek thank you and turned around to hide my tears.
Hazza to the hero of the battle of the weed sea!Shouted Joan with her fist raised.
There was hazza after hazza as Joan hurried me back into the tent.She handed me the fur again.
I stopped crying only because I ran out of tears.Joan waited quietly smileing the whole time.

I just nodded and smiled a big smile.

Now the hard part for me.She said.She sank to her knees and clasped my hemm with both hands. I swear to you in the sight of all mighty ilona that I didn't know until today.. if I'd known...her voice trembled..you..you are pregnate..and I think so is Jack!She finished and cried.
The tent started spinning and everything went black.
You ok? asked Janeen as helped me sit up.
You fainted.She said and curtsied and left.
I didn't know,I swear it.Said Joan who had gotten Janeen to tend me.

I'm with child?And Jack too? I asked in disbelief.
Yes;the medicos confirmed it yesterday.Joan responded.
Did they confirm Jack?I asked.
No one thought to check.But he had the exact same symptoms as you.Tired,emotional,and fainting.No one thought of it until your confirmation.She said.
Will I lose my position? Will Jack be ok? I asked.
There's no wrong in a woman decideing to have a child.When it starts to show you will have other duties,that's all.As for Jack,he would be far better off with us.

He needs massive pala oil treatments or the birth will..will kill him and the child.Stammered Joan crying.
It's not your fault.I..I should've known.He was my bride and mate,not yours.
Let's hope and pray he's with the group that approaches.Said Joan a bit happier.

I can't very well refuse the Supreme Sistors request.But if Jack shows up I want to see him much,much more.I told Joan.
Of course. She replied as she left.
It wasn't long before Vicky came to my tent and asked to enter.She did the fancy curtsy to me.
I curtsied back and tried my best to smile.
I am frightened.Said Vicky.
So am I Supreme Sister.I responded.
Vicky..please.She said.
Then Melody..please and no more curtsies to me.I said,a bit surprised.

She suddenly hugged me and started crying.
I..I..don't who to trust anymore.I mean..I trust you and Jack and Gwen...She wept so hard she was shakeing.
It'll be alright..you can trust us and Joan and the council.I think you can trust the entire camp.I said trying to give her a little comfort.
Well..I don't want anyone else to know that I will be the next Supreme Sister..yet.That is for sure!She said as her crying slowed.

After you three saved me it was the first time in my life I got to be just a kid.My parents died when I was very young.My moms older sister was Supreme Sister but she died unmarried.Since that time the council pretty much kept me under close eye.Only one time did I get out of the castle for a few days.That was when I met Vacar and Jeeter. Jeeter and I kind of looked alike so we switched places.I got to be a wuss boy for three days!It..it was kind of..well fun until Vacar and and I were almost sold.

We were sold to a group of Gnars but they only got a little ways out of Mish when they came across a young man wuss peddler who I thought was a mute,saved us.He wore a black robe with a hood.He took us back to the castle city. When we got to the castle I wanted to reward him with gold.He refused to enter the castle.But he did take a reward...he sucked my finger!! I think it was Jack! She finished her tale.
It sounds like Jack,when did this happen?I asked.

Well it sounds like a good tale to me.You could call it " The Princess and the Pauper". Did you tell the council?I said/asked.
Yes, but they refused to believe all but what they wanted.That's why the council allowed me to have the boys as wards,so they would be able to know where I was.If the 3 of us were there,I was there.I couldn't switch with Jeeter again!
I just know it was Jack.That's why I trust him so much.And if Jack loves you..Then I trust you.The boys want to be like Jack.

Jack has saved us twice,he likes to play with us.He lets us be kids.He cares for us without conditions.He..he has become a second daddy to us..and you a second...mommie.Please don't be mad at us,we can't help it.She said/pleaded.
Why would I be mad at you kids? I asked.
Because we begged him to go save you.Even though we knew he had other orders.We couldn't stand the thought of loseing our..our new parents! She said crying hard again.

Also Jack is an adult,though sometimes I wonder.It's like he never grew up.Or maybe was a child for a thousand seasons.At any rate Jack did as you asked because he wanted to, not because you forced him to.I hope Jack is ok,I think he can take care of himself. As far as being your new parents,the council will never allow it.It would open up a whole new sack of ground feeders.Who's entitled to rule and that sort of thing.Not much even Jack can do about that.I told Vicky.

I know..but I can appoint my own Royal advisers and guards.The council can only refuse if it's a danger to the Queendom. That would make them look awful silly considering you and Jack saved me.She said.
Well I can't speak for Jack,but as for me,I'll do what ever I can for you.I don't know if I have enough knowledge to be an advisor,but I'll do my best.There's just one thing you should know. I'm with child..and I think Jack maybe too! I trust you will keep our secret as we will keep yours.I said.

Hazza..of course!She said smileing.She stopped crying and hugged me.
We still have an army of Gnars to deal with first.I reminded Vicky.
I'm not worried...Jack kill Gnars.She said with a giggle.
We kissed cheeks and I sent her to keep an eye on the boys.She skipped merrily out of my tent like a man wuss.Jacks doing no doubt.
I did a stack of reports, ate, and got a good sleep for the first time in days.
The next eve Gwen married Milty.I kissed Milty the way Gwen had kissed Jack;Ha ha.

I gave them a set of fine suns bleached furs as a gift.
Jack was not with the sisters when they arrived the other day. He told them just before they arrived, "Jack kill Gnars." And headed east. He was so going to get a spanking when I saw him next.
Four phalanx of sisters with blow guns and 100 darts each now made up our group.Our confidence was way up,at first.
Gnar tents started filling in the burnt out weed sea.After another full day it looked like a sea of tents!

We widen and lengthed our trenches.They all but went completely around the two small mounts.And many connections between them were added so large groups could move one trench to another quickly.Then even more trenches were added toward the front of the mounts.The plan was simple,when Gnars come in blow gun range everyone fire at once.We all keep fireing until the Gnar retreat.Then we use the atatles to set their tents alight.We had managed to make about 200 of them and 5 fire arrows each.

All though a huge area of weeds had burned,a great deal of the sea remained.That would also be set on fire. A perfect plan if Jack was not out there.I worried endlessly.
We kept a close watch out at all times.
Just after first sunset of the third day the Gnars charged towards us.We got into our trenches and waited.
The Gnar came in range and we fired.They fell by the 100s but still they came.We kept up the fireing.They fell by the thousands,and still they came.The second sunset and they still came.

The Gnar dead laid strewned in heaps 10 to 20 deep and still they came.I was down to my last ten darts.Some of the sisters didn't have that many.
There seemed to be little decrease in the amount of Gnars chargeing our camp.I fired my last dart and drew my sword.The Gnars kept comming.
An immense ball of fire fell from the sky to the south.It landed in the midest of the chargeing Gnar.There was a tremendous BOOM!!The ground shook.Gnar by the dozens went flying in every direction.

There was a smoldering pit 5 cubits deep and at lest 15 cubits across where who knows how many Gnar both dead and living had been a moment before.
The Gnars were startled and paused for a moment.Joan ordered the fire arrows launched.The Gnar tents and more of the weed sea was on fire.The Gnars started another charge.A second fireball hit not far from the first with the same effect.Attendants worked their way through the trenches passing out more darts they had made.We sheathed our swords.

We started raining down darts on the Gnar.A Third fireball almost as big as the first two put together hit. It was so powerful it knocked us off our feet.My ears were ringing when I got up and looked.I could not count the number of Gnars now on fire.They were everywhere and so was the fire.
The battle was over and WE WON! We didn't even lose one sister.There was a very loud HAZZA.Everyone except me jumped for joy.There were high 5s,fist pumps and bumps,and a lot of cheek kissing.

The fire had blue flames it burned so hot.It seemed to suck wind down from the mounts.This fanned the fire causeing it to spread faster and faster.It also made it hotter.So much so we could feel the heat of it even though it was no where near us.
I hung my head and wept.Jack was out there somewhere and even he would be unable to out run the fire.
Those of us who knew all Jack had done were certain that he had something to do with the fireballs.Those who didn't,said it was Goddess ilonas doing.

It took only a day and a half for the fire to consume the entire weed sea.After that we searched for Jack for seven days.He was not found.It was a foul task.Picking through the remains of countless dead and chared Gnars.The fire had burned so hot even some of the stones had melted.The air stank of burnt flesh.Black and gray ash puffs lingered over the area.After the seventh day the medicos would not allow me to search anymore.I picked up a nasty cough and was ill for days.Others looked but to no avail.

On the 14th eve the camp packed up and returned to Yulamanns Castle City.I was soul broken.When my friends were around I held up pretty good.When I was alone I cried at the drop of a bonnet.Everything reminded me of Jack.
I moved into the castle with Vicky and the boys.I was given a room bigger than the house I grewup in.It had everything,even in door plumbing.My parents helped me move in.It was Daddy who was saddest the most about not meeting Jack.A girl can always count on Daddy for compassion.

I was given a royal pink with purple trim dress uniform.I would wear this in three days, when the council would award medals and citations to the "Heros" of the war.
Vicky told me that's when I also would be appointed Advisor.And that there would be a very special presentation that would mark the bigging of a new era.What ever that meant.I had stayed in the castle for the most part since returning.Vicky had to attend all kinds of functions.I felt bad for her.She loved Jack too after all.

The boys when not with Vicky did the things boys love to do.Gossip and play dressup.One day they asked if they could play with Jacks face paints.I tried to give them the paints but they said Vicky might spank them to death if she found out.It was just as well though as I could not find them.I was glad,they reminded me of Jack to much anyway.
The eve of awards arrived.We all went to the Great Entry Hall and Throne Room.There was at least 200 people dressed in their finest clothing present.

I waved to my parents who sat in one of the viewing balconys.My Daddy started crying on the spot.I knew they were attending but was happy to see they would have such a prized viewpoint.
Many sistors were given medals,Wanda,Gwen,Misty,Kelly,and Joan to name a few.There would be only one after me.I thought that would be Vicky of course.There was a covered statue on a flat cart to the left.Vicky no doubt.Every Queen had one.
My knees were a bit shakey as I approached the throne.

The flutter bys in my tummy made me woozy.
Until this point Ethel head of council had presented the medals,but she stepped back and Vicky stood up.
I curtsied again and stood tall at attention. The flutter bys were fist fighting in my tummy.
For Valor.Said Vicky as she snapped the Silver border over my flower emblem.
For Leadership.She said and attached the Stalk beneath it.
For Skill.She said and fastened the leaves to the stalk.
For Saccrafice.She attached the Ruby buds.

For Loyalty.She attached two pink sphire vines.
The only other person to ever receive this was Yulamann!The flutter bys were using swords to fight with.I was swetting and a tear rolled down my cheek.
This and more still is your due Misstress Melody,Advisor to the Supreme Sistor.Vicky turned me to face the Statue.
Oh Goddess no!! Not the statue..it can't be me! I prayed silently.
Vicky led me by hand and we stood on the flat cart.Vicky pulled the cover from the statue.
