The Sissy Boy Experiment

The Sissy Boy Experiment
Cnn has a special out called the Sissy Boy experiment. I saw it was coming out last week or something, and forgot about it until today when they had another story on CNN about it. You can read the story here: http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/06/07/sis...ent/index.html and the video story was run on Anderson Cooper 360 the last week of may. I have not watched it yet, as I forgot about it when it was running. A cursory look into finding the video did not show up, but you can watch a few clips of the show on cnn or youtube. There probably is more, out there than the few clips I found, and when I find them I will update this thread.
The story is about a 38 year old man who commits suicide, and they link it to an therapy experiment done in the 1970s to make effeminate boys into more masculine boys. This was done through behavioral modifications, from using poker chips to reward and punish the child, who by the way was only 4 when they started the treatment, too, spankings that were harsh. I really urge anyone and everyone to read the article, and above all, remember that we need to change society so things like this never happen ever again.
While It was never formal like this experiment, I remember how my dad did similar things to me while I was young, from spankings to ridicule because I liked to play with my sister and her friends, which included playing with dolls and playing dress up. I, as I am sure many of you can as well, understand what the person went through, and have been worried that I was going to end up like him, dead because I can't reconcile myself with what everyone else thinks I should be. Thankfully we all have a community like Sissykiss, where we can be who we wish to be, and not worry about everyone else trying to make us into something we are not. Please share your thoughts and experiences with us, not only to help out our community but maybe to help yourself out. Please, If your worried, scared, or depressed or anything, let us try to help you. Remember you are not alone, there are many out there who think and feel as you do, and just because your different from most of those around you, it doesn't make you any less of a person, no matter how much others tell you that.

I guess they are re running? the 3 part series on Cnn starting tonight again on AC 360, I strongly encourage everyone to watch, and to tell as many people as you can. I must say I am very pleased to see that LGBT rights are starting to gain more traction in our society, and I hope it continues on that path, regardless of how many homophobes and religious nuts are out there. Again please at least read the article on The Sissy Boy Experiment.

Found another story on CNN about LGBT kids being more at risk for risky behavior and stuff, seems like a no brainer to me, since personally have experience with it, but happy to see more attention being called to the fact.

that is just horrible! of course it being back in the 70s it shouldnt surprise anyone all that much.
people really need to get over themselves. the only reason things like this happen is because people cant get it through there thick skulls that not every one has to fit into your little "normal" box.

I recall hearing something about a baby boy that I believe lost his genitalia in an accident. They decoded to raise him as a girl instead, and he was closely watched - they had plans behind the scenes to also see if sexual preference and gender identity is learned or inborn. As I recall, the person committed suicide at 17. Is this in any way related to what you are talking about?

Its possible but I am not familiar with the story. If you can find more information on it, that would be great, I would like to read more on it.

He lived past seventeen and had a phalloplasty but I think he's killed himself since. If you're interested to learn more it was Dr. John Money who was in charge of that fiasco, searching his name should give you plenty to read.

Wow people are so mean nowadays. I hate to see stuff like this happen and feel very sorry for what they went through. I had a similar ridicule filled life and there was a dozen times were I almost killed myself too. luckly though i pushed through it and didn't end up like them. people just need to understand that "normal" is just ones view on the world, and everyone has different views. There a saying i read in "to kill a mocking bird" that i feel people should follow. Atticus tells scout that "you never really know a person until walk in there skin and get a feel for it".
Anybody want to chat about anything just ask and i'll be there. Hugs and Kisses to all and to all a good night.

Some of things that were done back then were very wrong but what matters more is that we say no to those who still want to beat the feminine out of those born male as well as challenging those psychologists who do not accept Transsexualism exists and advocate mind games to make those who say they are in male roles they don not feel comfortable in.
