"Touching Time"

A brief note: this poem is sad because I've been feeling sad and I realized
how much we all need each other. Also, there are some deep metaphors hidden
here but it's really about having hope even if it feels a bit on the cynical side.

"Touching Time"

Could someone teach me to dream?
Sing a new song to the open skies
Without ever feeling despised
Or paint a unique masterpiece
Using only the colors of others eyes
As they find their way by candle light...
Beyond the valley of this indifference and shame
We sold...
To the minds that bind the future chains of blame
We mold...
In the midst of early morning's sunrise

Waiting for love, so much softer than a dove
Tears paint the echoing of each piano key
But for whom do you play?
Once the rain decides to stay?
Your heart has so many better days left to see

Could someone show me what to believe?
These shadows are thick with feelings decried
No surprise we walk while gazing at our feet
Always taught to be so discreet
Greeting people is forbidden, it seems
Unless we wish to know which hands hold the time...
Token smiles are formed from the need to change
Our fate...
To remind our lives that beautiful miracles await
Our race...
When we give love it's chance to touch the sky

Watching the rose, slowly blushing petals unfold
Tears stain the beige bouquet you gave to me
And still I continue to play
These piano keys earnestly named
For all have heard the words necessary to be free.

Could someone teach me to dream?
I loved the poem even though it made sad. It has sooo much truth about the way we live. The first line really struck a chord for me. Jennifer your ability to touch our hearts with poetry is a wonderful gift. XOXOXO Amanda

I just wanted to take this moment to thank you all for the warm responses!
Many hugs & Kisses to my sweet sister, Samantha, Ella (Samantha's Mummy) and
of course to my friend Amanda who has become such an endearing friend to me :)

It really means a great deal to have the opportunity to share my thoughts
and feelings here, it's very productive and therapeutic as well.
I consider this poem to be one of my best as it clearly says exactly what I meant it to.
