"Painted Too Thin"
Greetings everyone... I would like to thank those who wrote to me
in my absence. I have been bedridden for a week, trying to overcome
a bad case of the stomach flu. Currently in recovery this poem came
to me during sleep one night, I have since tried to refine it, hope it's okay.
"Painted Too Thin"
By Jennifer Funshine
Of all these dreams I adored
They don't compare to the pictures you paint
Beneath sunlight's tender, loving warmth
With scarlet ribbons blowing in your amber hair
A bouquet of dandelions rests now on the porch
Spring flowers bow before me but smile no more
What was this day?
Whose hours fade with all mankind has made
While still playing for keeps...
The blue skies over head are strange
The sun is not the same, it has changed
Green grass has all dried up under my feet
What more will the future seek
Tomorrow's eyes are so heavy...
And our colors are being painted too thin
Outside the rain has ceased to pour
The dream is gone for another night
Even if I try to close my eyes, all is black
And that angelic laughter of yours,
Assured me everything would be alright
For the future to some is just a question
Of whether what was left, will yet come back
The wind saw us crying, hand in hand our tears wept
Crept along and were swept clean from our skin
Like so many things, we never know what we have
Because all we could see was what we wanted to get.
What more will the future seek
Tomorrow's eyes are so heavy...
And our colors are being painted too thin
So help someone grow a glorious rainbow
And let their paint brush smile all over again
Only with courage can we truly turn the page
And paint new dreams for everyone to believe in.

Hi Jennifer,
Only with courage can we truly turn the page
And paint new dreams for everyone to believe in.
Your poem touched me. The visual imagery sticks in my mind.
Thank you from the bottom of this little girls heart

So deep and full of emotion...
It brings tears to my eyes and yet makes me smile at all the beauty it shows.
